"The Celtics had to face the 76ers of Dr. J, the Lakers of Magic-Kareem, and the Pistons of Isiah. Who did the Bulls face? The Trail Blazers? Sonics? Utah Jazz?"

In one breath you call Hakeem the best center of all time and the next you say Jordan had no competition and the 90's teams he faced weren't as good as the competition Bird faced. How about the fact that Hakeem didn't win any titles till Michael left? Jordan beat Magic first, then Clyde(who never won anything till he teamed up with Hakeem and MJ left) and then Sir Charles in 93. He then beat Kemp/Payton and Stockton and Maone twice in a row. You know, John Stockton? Since you love stats so much John has the most assists and steals ever. Jordan made sure John retired with no rings. Malone was also easily the best power forward of his era and MJ made sure he didnt get any rings. Jordan kept guys like Barkley, Ewing and many others from getting rings in his era. Guys like David Robinson waited till MJ retired.

As far as Jordan Vs. Bird, Michael had ONE hall of famer on his team in Scottie whereas Larry had McHale, Parish and a much better bench than Chicago ever had with guys like Walton. If you want to bring up Chicago falling to Detroit when they were younger or Michael's return in 95 falling to Orlando, why don't you mention Boston losing 3 straight to the Knicks in 89 when Larry's back didnt bother him yet?

The Bulls might have won 55 the year after Jordan retired, but they couldn't get past the Knicks without Jordan. You mention a lot about regular season games as if they matter but the Championship is all that matters. If you care about the regular season so much, don't forget about the 72 wins MJ and the bulls got in 96 surpassing the hall of fame filled Lakers. Larry's "impact" on his team is a joke. They won a lot more regular season games. Hooray. Did they win the title? No. Then the 79-80 season was a bust. MJ and Larry both won rookie of the year and had great statistical seasons. Larry meaning more to his team than Michael? You mention the NCAA, then regular season wins twice in a row. How about championships? The Bulls don't win titles without Michael. They win 2 sets of 3 straight with him. Larry and Magic couldn't win one set of 3 straight. How about the comeback that Michael made being the oldest MVP in league history and winning 3 straight after 18 months away from the game? Magic's "comeback" was a joke and Larry didnt have 1/8th the athleticism Michael had so he was smart to never come back. Michael was still getting as many points a game with the Wizards as Larry was getting in his prime with Boston in his 20's and this was MJ at damn near 40.

That's a poor interpretation of John 10:16. Christ is clearly referring to Gentiles there. Remember, Jesus came to the Jews and ministered to the Jews. His disciples were Jewish. Moreover, when the disciples went out to preach the gospel after Christ's ascension, they initially did so only to Jews. It was later on that Gentiles were included. Clearly that is what Jesus was referring to in John 10:16, especially considering the whole scope of the Bible.

You may want to brush up on your biblical history: Revelation was the last book written in the Bible - approximately A.D. 90. As for Deuteronomy, that was the last book of the Pentateuch, and that warning refers to the Law. The Book of Mormon distorts the Bible by setting books not contained in the biblical canon as being equal to them in their authority.

Most of all, though, the Book of Mormon has no manuscript evidence whatsoever. It is beyond unreliable and clearly the invention of Joseph Smith (just where are those tablets again?).

In John 10:16 Christ said that he would visit his other sheep. Does the Mormon belief that "the other sheep" were on the Western Hemisphere make them non-Christian?

Revelation 22:18 does say that the Word should not be added to, but the Book of Revelation was not the last Biblical book written - and for that matter there is similar wording in Deuteronomy 4:2. Have all the the books of the Bible beyond that point been "added to" as well?

The Book of Mormon is a companion to the Bible - not a replacement.

Your comment about the "good old days" is the basis for the fourth element of the MJP: the "Jim Brown effect." Hopefully I can get to that one soon.

I also believe people live in the "good old days". So for example people will always say MJ is better than Kobe no matter what Kobe ever does. Even if Kobe wins 6 championships. MJ will still be better than Kobe. Because its the "old respect your elders". People hate on the present. One day when Kobe is retired and there is a new star in the NBA. The new star will always live in the shadow of the pasts stars. So whatever the new star does he will still never be as good as Kobe Bryant.

Great Article. I can't wait to read the rest of it. I personally think that you can't say that any of these players MJ, Russell, Bird, Magic, Wilt, Kareem, Isiah, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron are the greatest ever to play the game of basketball. Because they all played in different eras. You can't compare MJ with Russell because they never played against each other. And if they did play against each other like MJ did with Magic Johnson. MJ was much younger than Magic. Thus it really doesn't count. Obivously you can say MJ was better than Patrick Ewing, Gary Payton, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone because he played against them and beat them everytime. But MJ never played against Wilt and Russell. And he was very young when he played against Bird and Magic.

I think Nadal will be number 1 by the end of the year. Federer may still win the US open, but I even think that is quite unlikly. Nadal will be much better on hard courts this year and we will see him perform probably as well as he did last year on grass - not quite good enough to win, but getting better.
